for Heights
Action high above the ground
Visitors with strong nerves and a head for heights will look forward to a day out at the Kaiserklettergarten in Ellmau. This climbing centre close to the Hotel Seehof offers routes for all ages and abilities, including a kids’ area, just a 30-minute walk from the Gaudeamushütte hut. Another popular activity in summer months is via ferrata climbing. Via ferrata are fixed-rope climbing routes with metal handholds and footholds. In the Kaiserwinkl region there is the Kletterarena Ottenalm with three different via ferrata climbing routes catering for different abilities. Safety equipment can be hired on location.
Families will also enjoy the Hochseilgarten Kössen with its many obstacle courses high above the ground.
This officially inspected and approved high-rope centre has a huge web of steel ropes and meets the highest safety standards. Highlights include the 100m hanging bridge and the 100m zipwire. Perfect for families with older children and teenagers who simply love action and adventure.

Riding
Rafting on the Tiroler Ache
Spanning the German-Austrian border, the Tiroler Ache is the closest we can offer to the famous Grand Canyon. Rafting on the rushing whitewater is a popular activity with families and also as a teambuilding activity for companies. The river is just a short drive from the 4*S Hotel Seehof.
Equipped with a wetsuit and lifejacket, participants are shown the basics of rafting by an experienced guide before embarking on an aquatic adventure along one of Tyrol’s most beautiful rivers. Half-day and full-day rafting tours are available on the 45km stretch of river between Kirchdorf and Marquartstein. A unique adventure that will leave you with memories for a lifetime.
the Skies
Paragliding in Walchsee
Want to see the world from a different perspective? Now’s your chance! There are a number of flying schools in the Kaiserwinkl region which offer tandem flights with a fully qualified instructor. Take to the skies and enjoy breathtaking views of the Alps and Lake Walchsee. For more details speak to a member of staff at reception.
The excellent thermal conditions in our region make it a haven for paragliders and hanggliders who use the Untersberg mountain in Kössen to take off.
