Climbing Around the Walchsee
Anyone wishing to take up the challenge of mountain climbing through the mountain idyll along with hiking will be right at home in the Kaiserwinkl region. The imposing rock walls and the Kaiser Mountains’ impressive peaks attract all mountain climbing aficionados.
Numerous via ferratas and climbing halls in and around the Wilden Kaiser will give you the opportunity to try out or perfect these high Alpine sports. This is also home to one of Europe’s most difficult climbing paths, the Schleier Waterfall.
Climbing Arena on the Ottenalm
At the Climbing Arena on the Ottenalm in Walchsee, you will not only find three via ferrate ranging in difficulty from “easy” to “ambitious”, but also all the equipment that you need for climbing.

Kaiser Climbing Garden
At the Kaiser Climbing Garden on Wilden Kaiser in Ellmau, climbers will find everything that their climber heart desires, from practice rocks to sophisticated climbing tours. Two well-equipped climbing rocks, the Murmeltierfelse and Gamsfelse below the Ellmauer Tor, can also be used for climbing with children, since the entrance can be reached after just 30 minutes and easy climbing tours take place in a high Alpine environment.
We will gladly arrange for a trained mountain or climbing guide for your mountain summit or climbing adventure. He is just as indispensable for climbing activities in the Kaiser Mountains as a helmet, cable, and pick. You can then discover Tyrol’s rough mountain world with your knowledgeable guide. Upon request, we can also arrange for a climbing hall where you would have the opportunity to undertake indoor climbing and bouldering.
